A school website parents can actually use
Shoreham Beach Primary School & Nursery is a one-form entry primary on the seafront in Shoreham-by-Sea. We designed and built a new website that puts everyday parent tasks first and gives the school full control of its own news and calendar.

The brief
- Parents needed to find everyday information — term dates, absence reporting, lunch menus, uniform — without hunting through menus.
- Prospective families needed a warm, honest picture of school life, including the nursery.
- Staff needed to publish the headteacher's weekly blog and calendar dates themselves, without waiting on a developer.
- Statutory key information had to be easy to reach and easy to keep current.
What we did
A parent-first homepage
The things families need weekly sit within one click of the homepage: term dates, reporting an absence, the lunch menu and uniform. Everything else follows underneath in the order a parent actually looks for it.
Warmth without clutter
A calm layout built around real photography of the children and a short welcome from the headteacher, so the school's character comes across before any navigation is used.
Blogs and calendar the school controls
The weekly headteacher blog, news and dated events are all editable by staff, with add-to-calendar links so trips, photograph days and term dates land straight in a parent's own diary.
Key information, clearly signposted
Curriculum, SEND and safeguarding pages are grouped and linked prominently, so statutory information is quick to find for families and inspectors alike.
Built for phones and accessibility
Designed mobile-first for parents reading on the school gate, with a skip link, clear headings, meaningful image descriptions and strong colour contrast throughout.
Where it stands today
The new site is live and the school is publishing to it week by week, from the headteacher’s Saturday blog to term dates and trips. We’re gathering feedback from families over the first full term, and will add measured results here once we have them rather than estimate them now.
